Len (Chip) Hawkes, the singer of The Tremeloes Mum: Carol Hawkes,
who was a TV hostess and actress in the UK. Brother: Jodie, the drummer
in Ches's band Keely: Lives in the US and is in a band called Transister.

is the origin of the name Chesney?
The
German magazine Bravo states that his first name comes from the comedian
Chesney Allen who was in the duo Ches 'n' Bud. Apparently Chesney's
grandfather was a fan of Chesney Allen. His middle name, Lee comes
from Leapy Lee, a close friend of Chip Hawkes (Chesney's father) during
his Tremeloes days.

Who
created this site and why?
The
original site began back in 1997 when Dan Hersam, had been trying
to find out who wrote the song "The One and Only" that he
heard on the radio a few times in 1991. After searching all over the
web he finally discovered who wrote it because of someone's email
signature that had a portion of the song's lyrics and a by-line of
Chesney Hawkes. He immediately bought the CD from Second
Spin and after hearing the rest of it he found that he liked every
song on the album.
After searching on the web and finding nothing about Ches, he decided
to type up the lyrics and put up a small message board to benefit
people like me who wanted to find more out about Chesney Hawkes. The
message board was barely used for quite sometime and then gradually
more and more people began visiting the site and to his surprise he
received an email from Chesney Hawkes himself. Being the sceptical
person that he was he verified that it really was Ches by asking him
what school he had gone to and one of the users of the message board
who had gone to school with Ches confirmed that it was really him.
Since then, Fiona has come aboard and helped to launch this totally
redesigned site and also Chesney and Geri from Arc Records help to
keep this site updated.
